Job Summary:
The Utility Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting utility data to support effective decision-making and improve operational efficiency within the organization. This role plays a critical part in identifying trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in utility data management, consumption, and cost. The Utility Data Analyst collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate data collection, reporting, and analysis, ultimately contributing to the optimization of utility operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Collect and compile utility consumption data from various sources, including utility invoices, meter data, and internal systems.
2. Conduct thorough analysis of utility data to identify trends, anomalies, and discrepancies.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop data-driven strategies for optimizing utility usage and reducing costs.
4. Generate comprehensive reports and visualizations to effectively communicate utility consumption patterns and performance metrics.
5. Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making related to utility management.
6. Monitor utility data quality, investigate data integrity issues, and implement corrective actions.
7. Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to utility data analysis.
8. Support the implementation and maintenance of utility data management systems and tools.
9. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
10. Assist in the development and maintenance of data collection processes, methodologies, and standard operating procedures.
11. Conduct periodic audits and quality control checks to ensure compliance with data management protocols.
12. Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives related to utility management and sustainability.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
2. Proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar role, preferably within the energy or utility sector.
3. Proficient in data analysis techniques, statistical modeling, and data visualization tools.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
5. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
6. Proficient in using data analysis software such as Excel, SQL, or Python.
7. Familiarity with utility management systems and tools is highly desirable.
8. Understanding of utility billing structures, metering technologies, and energy efficiency concepts.
9. Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data findings in a clear and concise manner.
10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
11. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
12. Knowledge of industry regulations, data privacy, and security standards is a plus.
